Opportunity:
This role will suit someone looking for a step up into a position with more responsibility and exposure across the business. Ideally, you’ll have some transferable experience but more importantly you’ll demonstrate a strong willingness to learn. The candidate will join the Fund Operations team, based in London or Luxembourg. This team is responsible for the deliverables outlined in the section below, and the holder of this role will play an important part in executing these.
The role will act as a fund controller overseeing the production of financial deliverables from Private Markets related products, primarily funds. This will mean extensive interaction with administrators and their preparation of financial reports, as well as with auditors and other service providers. Whilst not mandatory an accounting background and familiarity with Private Markets, Hedge Funds, illiquid assets and/or private clients is ideal.  
 
Key Team Deliverables:
Fund accounting:
  • Oversight of capital activities of funds (subs / reds / calls / distributions)
  • Monitoring of budgets, cash and trial balances as required to ensure accurate and timely reporting of all fund NAVs
  • Manage transactional flows from subscription to underlying investments
  • Support fund audits and applicable financial reporting requirements
  • Develop and monitor fund modelling to cover valuations, performance fees, liquidity management and operational expenditure
  • Liaise with tax advisors to support establishment of investor tax reporting
Fund lifecycle:
  • Oversee all aspects, from fund formation through to day-to-day ongoing fund operations
  • Development of service models to manage funds across multi-jurisdictions
  • Support of fund governance (Board, AIFM, Depositary etc.)
Service providers:
  • Support the management of relationships with service providers, including selection, onboarding and ongoing service review
  • Ensure that fund investors receive quality of service and cost optimisation
Regulatory and compliance:
  • Working to ensure these aspects of fund operations are met (e.g Annex IV, PRIIPS / KID, Tax reporting)
Implement and develop operating model:
  • Efficient processes and standards including the use of technology solutions to support growth and scalability
  • Documentation of procedures


Personal Characteristics
  • You will be highly numerate with knowledge of alternative assets having worked in private markets and/or hedge funds as a controller.  We would have a preference for a qualified accountant but it is not required.
  • You’re a self-starter and offer suggestions for activity that improves the product you work on
  • You’ll skilfully manage the demands and expectations of stakeholders and teams across the business, presenting your work and building relationships while representing your team
  • You realise the value of face-to-face time and appreciate the interpersonal opportunities and improvements that can make
